High 5 For Friday!

Whew! This has been a long week and I am ready for the weekend! This was my first week back from Spring Break. You would think I would be rested but NOPE, Not me! I spent my Spring Break getting caught up and ahead of my classes. I started my 6th class this week so I wanted to make sure I was ahead of my studies. Lucky for me, I love interior design, which makes homework feel less like work and more fun!

With that said, lets get down the top 5 highlights of my week:

1. My most exciting news came on Thursday when I had a vet appointment for my little Hunter. He cut his eye about 3 months ago (and after a few procedures and a lot of vet appointments later) the vet finally gave him the thumbs up! I am so relieved and thrilled! Since corgis have short little legs, Hunter has a hard time with wearing a cone. His little head gets stuck in the grass when he walks and I have had to hand feed him since he couldn't reach his food. He quite the little happy camper now that he is free from the "cone of shame"!

2. Since I am going to school for interior design, my confidence has been a little hesitant on how I would do in an architecture class. My classes latest project was designing a building for my schools Video Game Club. Well, I was very excited on Tuesday to find out I got an A on my project! Now onto my next project of headquarters building for Adidas, wish me luck!

3. On Thursday I got to spend the day with my sister Tara, and my newest little niece Alice. I cant believe she is already 3 months old! She loves to be held and her aunt Sammy loved getting to hold her! She was too precious giggling and smiling as we walked around the block twice leading up to her nap. Can't wait to be able to watch her again!

4. As I mentioned above I have started another class this week, giving me a compacted schedule of 6 classes for the next 8 weeks. I have been studying an interior design software called AutoCAD since February and am really getting the hang of it now! This week I started my BIM1 class which focuses on another design software called Revit. I am 2 classes in and I don't foresee any problems in this class!

5. For the past 4 years I have heard my husband tell his tall tales of him and his best baseball friends from when he played with Detroit Tigers. With getting to visit/live with him during his seasons I was fortunate to meet a number of them but there are still few I haven't. Well last weekend/early this week we had the pleasure of having his friend, Bryan Pounds stay with us. It was fun to hear/see the reenactment of these stories I have heard of firework mishaps and skinned knees of sliding into home. I want to wish him a good luck this season and we look forward to visiting him in Texas when he returns home.

Well that's a wrap on my week! On too thrift shopping, baseball games and homework for me this weekend! Have a wonderful week!

High 5 For Fridays!

High 5, it's Friday! I got this blog entry idea from some of my favorite blogers and am excited to be able to apply to my blog now! Every Friday I will choose the top 5 things that happened to me within the week. This is just a fun and positive post to reflect ondifferent things in my life, while giving you a little more insight to who I am ... So away we go!
1. I love making crafts. This week I made yarn wrapped carrots in preparation for Easter. Such a simple and cute craft that doesn't take long at all. Tutorial coming next week for you try for yourself!
2. Yesterday, I got to attend my first hospitality interior design trade show! The registered vendors had beautiful displays of the industries new trends. Innovation Lighting has beautiful chandeliers, and Kravets is featuring a fun fabric line. I can't wait to spec some thier designs in the future!
3. On top of getting to attend the trade show, I was also lucky enough to attend the NEWH Fashion Show event in San Diego. 12 design firms were given a box of interior design materials such as fabrics and flooring that they had to incorporate into a clothing design. The design firms models then rock the runaway where the pieces were auctioned off for student scholarships. I highly suggest if given the oppurtunity to attend one of these events to go!
4. One of my Facebook friends posted about a website she has just signed up for, www.100happydays.com . She urged her friends to sign up and participate with her. I found the concept of the website inspiring so I signed up. Everyday you post on social media a photo of something that makes you happy with #100happydays. The photos can be of your child, pet, new shirt, a sunset, anything that makes you happy. I'm only on day 3 but I find it really uplifting to find happiness all around me! Please let me know if you participate, I would love to follow your posts!
5. Last but certainly not least, my family is all on thier way to Vegas right now!  Since I am such a car fanatic, I have always attended the monster truck shows when they come to Orange County. When my Uncle offered to purchase tickets for our entire family to attend the finals in Vegas we were all in! I am very close with my family so I am excited for a mini weekend vacation with them!
Well that's the recap of my week! Hope your week/weekend was/is as exciting as mine!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Tuesdays Tip of the week! 3.18.2014

Face it, we all have that junk drawer packed full of papers just bursting to get out. Well, what are you waiting for? LETS BUST THEM OUT!
Three ring notebooks and/or accordion files are a great tool to use when organizing your paper work.
Take all of the manuals you have stashed in miscellaneous areas of the home and file them. I suggest taking a 3 ring binder and placing the manuals in a plastic sleeve and files under a divider. Next time you need a manual it's right there.
Accordion files and three binders are also  great for filing past taxes, your pet paperwork, and children's art work you can't bare to part with. Use an accordion file to keep all of your mortgage/title documents together then store away until the far future when needed again.
Don't waste valueable accessible space on paperwork you use once in a blue moon. Now go on, BUST those papers losse!

Tuesday's Tip of the Week 2.04.14

Tuesdays tip of the week!

A closet seems to be a place that is overlooked when organizing your home. You throw something on a hanger or on a shelf, shut the door and BOOM! out of the sight, out of mind! Soon enough you will find that your closets and drawers are too packed, and you have a hard time finding an item. Here are some few simple tips to help you tame the chaos!

Start by sorting through your closet. Look at each piece of clothing hanging up. Think to yourself, is this something I wear? Is it something that still fits my style or body? If the answer is "no" to either of the questions then it is time to toss/donate it. If the answer is that your not sure then try to the 6 month rule. Turn all of your hangers backwards.  As your wear your clothes and rehang them turn the hanger around to face frontwards. At the end of 6 months (or any time frame you choose) you will have a clear view of the clothes you have not worn and the clothes taking up valuable space in your closet!

Once you have determined the clothes you are keeping in your closet it's time to organize! Organize your clothes in groups. First, put your clothes in sections: tops, bottoms, jacket, dresses, etc. Next, hang your clothes up in groups of color: white, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, brown, gray black. Once all of the clothes are hung up in colors, you can then again organize them even further by type. I like to hang all of my shirts up by tank tops to long sleeves. My outerwear is placed from sweaters, to the heaviest jacket, ending with long jackets. Color coordinator not only looks pleasing to the eye, but also the next time you go for your blue tank top or gray sweater, you know exactly where to look!

Taming the chaos - Sorting while Organizing

Taming the chaos Thursday!
Sorting while Organizing
"Sorting, as painful as it may be, is a critical step in organizing any area of your homeYou simply can't create an organized space or system without knowing what you need to organize." -Laura List
When beginning to organize a room, first think of what the rooms functions are. Do you have guests in this room? Do you conduct crafts in this room? Or is it a personal home office. Once you have written down the main reasons for the room you will be able to sort through the room easier. If the items task is not fulfilled in the room, then move the item to the appropriate area of the home. Also when sorting, be sure to ask yourself "Do I still use this item? Do I still need it?" If the answer is "no" then place it in your donating pile for charity.

Tuesdays Tip of the Week 1.21.14

Tuesday's tip of the day!
Organizing your drawers can be as simple as 1, 2 and 3! First step is to empty everything out of the drawer. Second step is the wipe out the drawers so they are clean. Lastly, only place the contents you currently use back in the drawer.
